Isabella Rossellini - Lusty Porn Star!

Isabella Rossellini is creating quite a stir in her new role as porn star.  For those of you who, like me, have managed to miss the first of her amazing performances -  her 'Green Porno' short films have become a bit of a web sensation.

Isabella Rossellini, who is now 57 has starred in films like 'Blue Velvet' (David Lynch)  and 'Death becomes her' (Robert Zemeckis).  She is also well known for her 14 year contract with Lancome, as well as for being the daughter of actress Ingrid Bergman.

Two series of the 'Green Porno' movies have already aired on the Sundance Channel with a third about to commence on September 21st.  The Green Porno book and DVD is to be released the next day - published by Harper Collins.  Perhaps promising to be a great Christmas gift - or certainly a coffee table discussion point!

Isabella Rossellini who declares herself to be a keen bird-watcher and nature enthusiast wanted to make these short films about bugs and sea creatures but also wanted to get people to watch them.  She realised that sex would be the selling point and hence the films are about the very interesting sexual behavior of bees, barnacles, shrimps and the like.

These short two minute films are written and co-directed by Rossellini.  They had to be produced on a low budget but another aim was to make films that could be viewed on a cell phone screen easily.  The sets are therefore minimalist and the effect almost two dimensional.

The handmade costumes are wonderful - made from paper and fabrics.  Isabella Rossellini is so beautiful she can carry off an earthworm suit in a way most of us couldn't.  She says that sometimes she couldn't see very well in her costumes and also that filming the earthworm required her to be in a painful 'sit-up' position for long periods.  All the films start with Rossellini saying " If I were a ......... I would....." she then goes on to tell you how she would mate.

Rossellini narrates the films with a wry humour.  She says that she aims to amuse primarily but also to teach something.  I have certainly learned something from these funny little films and I am sure you will too.  You'll definitely have a laugh.

The series was encouraged by Robert Redford, actor, director and founder of the Sundance Channel.  He wanted to have something unique - especially for the internet.  It has been a huge success.  The first five episodes received over a million hits and it is still growing in popularity with season three about to begin on the 14th September.

The variety of reproduction is quite amazing - Isabella Rossellini demonstrates hermaphroditic earthworms having sex in what she refers to as the 69 position to anchovies having orgies!  It is not pornographic at all - merely lighthearted entertainment that informs.  Highly recommended!
